Tierp Motorsport Arena is one of Europe's leading drag strips with the ability to attract up to 20,000 spectators. Constructed on a derelict airfield the arena opened in 2012.

 

Chapman Partnership engaged in the concept and initial designs. Our approach focussed on creating an environment which captured and reflected the drama of the sport itself. The scheme needed to attract a growing crowd without losing the ability to showcase the immersive racing atmosphere.

 

Integral to the design was the spectator experience. Staging lanes located directly under the control and hospitality buildings amplified the engine acoustics. This allowed the arena to resonate with the sounds of superchargers prior to the dragsters being in sight of their fans.
